The Netherlands Advisory Board on impact investing (NAB), with the support of the Ministry of  Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and Amsterdam Impact, is pleased to invite you to an afternoon of dialogue and collaboration focused on accelerating the mobilisation of private capital for impact.

As societies face growing social, environmental, and economic challenges, private capital has a critical role to play in shaping resilient and prosperous economies. Impact investing has immense potential to help the Netherlands achieve climate neutrality and economic resilience, channelling capital into the energy transition, stronger public systems, economic resilience and long-term prosperity.

The programme is built around a shared ambition: mobilising 10% of assets under management for impact, including a 4% allocation to emerging markets. Through discussions with Dutch and international stakeholders, we will explore practical pathways for scaling capital mobilisation and showcase inspiring examples from leading Dutch institutional investors.

The event will bring together Dutch institutional investors, policymakers, and impact leaders from the Netherlands and around the world, including CEOs and Chairs of the GSG Impact global partnership representing more than 50 countries. Together, we will examine how to accelerate the growth of impact investing and turn ambition into action.

The afternoon programme is structured around two key themes:

• Mobilising local capital for impact: How institutional investors are embedding impact within their investment strategies by setting clear objectives, measuring outcomes, and sharing lessons learned to help strengthen resilient communities, economies and public systems.

• Mobilising capital for emerging markets: Exploring the opportunities and challenges of increasing investment flows to emerging markets, including the benefits of portfolio diversification, risk management, sustainable development and driving global solutions.

As part of this international gathering, the NAB will present an exclusive preview of its latest State of the Dutch impact investing ecosystem, providing insights into the size and development of the market, key trends and the main barriers and opportunities shaping its future growth.

The evening will conclude with a walking dinner at Strandzuid after 18.00.

• Why Now? Why the Impact Economy?: Opening plenary on the global context and the case for a renewed strategic narrative.

• The Impact Economy Index: An interactive panel making the case for the Impact Economy Index as the Partnership's flagship tool, landing it in each country's context.

Afternoon: From Exchange to Co-Creation 

• Discover and Define: Choose one of a number of working sessions on the Partnership's core themes. Exchanging practices and perspectives to get to the hard questions worth solving. (see below for the list of sessions). Within each session, you will:

• Ideate and Vote: Creative thinking tools to generate ideas and champion the ones with real potential.

• Build and Commit: Groups turn their strongest idea into a tangible artefact with a plan to take it forward.

• Harvest and Close: Groups share what they have built, capturing the day's insights and direction for Day 2.

Evening

Optional networking dinner – at participants' own expense. We may arrange restaurant reservations in advance, with each participant paying for their own meal. (TBC)

Session 1: Turning the Impact Economy Index into compelling narratives for action

How might we frame a specific finding from the Impact Economy Index in a way that is relevant and compelling to a particular stakeholder (e.g. a minister, investor, donor, corporate partner, etc.) and helps motivate a decision or action?

Session 2: From policy access to policy influence

How might we grow the trusted government relationships we already hold into real policy influence?

Session 3: Mobilising domestic capital for impact: what tools can accelerate change?

How might we address the specific constraints preventing a priority domestic capital source from investing for impact?

Session 4: Activating the demand side

How might we strengthen the demand side of the impact economy, now that it stands as its own driver in the Impact Economy Index?

Session 5: Climate resilience & adaptation

How might National Partners translate financially material climate and nature risks into coordinated policy and investment action in their markets?

Session 6: Partnering with wealth owners on impact

How might we partner with wealth owners and family offices to drive the transformative shifts we need to build impact economies?

Planting the Seeds for the Future: From ideas to commitments

Morning: Deepening and Connecting

• Landing Back: Reflections on Day 1 learnings and a warm-up to set the tone for growing what we started.

• Fireside Chat: A conversation with Sir Ronald Cohen (TBC).

• Open Space: Sessions proposed and hosted by participants, seeded by the Day 1 harvest and topics still calling for attention.

• Regional Meetings: Why regions matter for the Partnership, and space to coordinate shared priorities and structures.

Afternoon: Committing and Closing

• Looking Towards the Future: The path ahead and the key milestones for the year ahead, including the Global Summit 2-3 March 2027.

• Regional and National Commitments: Translate the two days into regional and national priorities and commitments. 

Closing: Closing ritual, evaluation, and final remarks. Leaving inspired, connected, and committed as one ecosystem.

The Global Leadership Meeting (GLM) 2026 officially begins on September 15th at 14:00 (local time) and concludes on September 17th at 16:10(local time). 

Important note:

Arrival (Sept 15): The opening session will take place at 14:00 (local time) at Cinema The Pulse.

Please plan to arrive at the hotel with enough time to drop off your luggage and prepare for group transport to the venue. We will depart together to ensure everyone arrives before the 14:00 (local time) start.

Departure (Sep 17): We recommend booking return flights for later in the evening on the 17th to ensure you can attend the final workshops and have sufficient time for travel to the airport.

The official currency of the Netherlands is the Euro (€).

• Airport ATMs: There are over 50 ATMs throughout the airport.

  • Travelex ATMs: These are frequent but may charge a transaction fee for foreign cards.

  • Geldmaat ATMs: Look for the bright yellow machines. These are the standard Dutch bank-operated ATMs and often provide the fairest market rates if your home bank has low international fees. 

Advice for arrivals

• You likely do not need much cash immediately upon landing. The trains from Schiphol to Amsterdam Central, as well as taxis and Ubers, all accept contactless payment (tap-to-pay) via credit card or smartphone. You can easily tap your card or phone at the yellow gates to board the train.

• Card vs. Cash: Amsterdam is a "plastic-friendly" city. Most shops, cafes, and transport services prefer contactless payments via Visa, Mastercard, or mobile wallets (Apple/Google Pay).

Free WIFI is available in all areas of the conference venue and at the hotel.

Attractions

September is one of the best months to visit, as the summer crowds thin and the weather remains mild.

• Amsterdam Fringe Festival (Sept 3–13): A 10-day celebration of avant-garde theater, dance, and performance art across various "off-beat" locations in the city.

• Open Monument Day (Sept 12–13): During this weekend, many of Amsterdam’s historic canal houses, private gardens, and hidden churches—usually closed to the public—open their doors for free.

• Dam tot Damloop (Sept 19–20): One of the world’s largest running events. Be aware that the city center and the route to Zaandam will be very busy, with many streets closed to traffic.

• Canal Cruises & Museums: September sunsets are spectacular for a canal cruise. For the Anne Frank House, Rijksmuseum, or Van Gogh Museum, you must book tickets several weeks in advance via their official websites.

Getting from Schiphol Airport to Park Inn by Radisson Amsterdam City West is quick and easy. The hotel is located right next to the Amsterdam Sloterdijk station.

Here are the three best ways to reach the hotel:

1. By Train (Fastest & Easiest) – Approx. 10–15 minutes

The train is the most convenient option, as there is a direct connection.

• Where: Follow the signs at Schiphol to the underground train station.
• Direction: Take any train heading towards Amsterdam Sloterdijk (usually trains bound for Enkhuizen, Hoorn, or Amsterdam Centraal—check the platform screens).
• Arrival: Get off at Amsterdam Sloterdijk.
• Walking to Hotel: Follow the signs for the "Pieter Braaijweg" exit. The hotel is the colorful building located just a 2-minute walk from the station exit.

2. By Taxi or Rideshare – Approx. 15–20 minutes

• Where: Follow the yellow "Taxi" signs to the official taxi rank outside the main arrival hall.
• Cost: Expect to pay between €35 and €50.
• Note: You can also use apps like Uber or Bolt; follow the "Passenger Pickup" signs to meet your driver.

3. By Car

• Route: Take the A4 motorway towards Amsterdam and merge onto the A10 (West) ring road. Take exit S102 (Basisweg).
• Parking: We offer secure on-site parking for guests (subject to a daily fee).
