Eleven European GSG National Partners and Impact Europe will launch a comprehensive, pan-European market sizing survey on 2 March 2026. This European Impact Investing Consortium has spent the last year aligning on how to measure, define, and talk about impact investing, in order to deliver the most rigorous, locally informed data on impact investing in Europe.
By collecting coordinated data across countries – based on a shared definition of impact investing that's increasingly recognised in EU policy – European market builders are developing intelligence designed by and for Europe, that captures what matters locally.
What makes this market sizing initiative different:
-
Methodological rigor: It uses the proven impact investing definition included in the joint position paper 5Ws – covering intentionality, measurability, and additionality at both investee and investor level – and reflecting the standards gaining traction in the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regime (SFDR).
-
Local intelligence: GSG National Partners from Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, and the UK are leading data collection in their markets, while Impact Europe will cover other European countries. Local partners mean capturing local cultural and regulatory context.
-
A wider network: This is the third time the European Impact Investing Consortium has come together since its formation in 2021, but with more partners than ever before.
